WireGuard Service – $5.00

WireGuard is a protection plan, which is offered with all Internet services, for $5.00 per month. This plan includes repair and replacement of faulty inside wiring and/or modular jacks due to normal wear and tear,  and all service charges associated with a Wilkes Communications’ technician coming to your home or business to diagnose issues found within the standard inside wiring and/or modular jack. WireGuard does not cover a service call charge in the event your trouble is found to be in your telephone equipment.

*Certain restrictions apply.  A maintenance service agreement may be required with wireless networking.

Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a U.S. government program run by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program to help low-income households pay for internet service.

Who Qualifies?

Eligible households can qualify for up to a $30/month discount on internet service if someone in your household meets one of the following criteria, which are based on U.S. Government rules:

  • Receives SNAP/food stamps, Medicaid or eligible to participate in another one of the FCC’s Lifeline qualifying programs
  • Receives Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) benefit
  • Receives individual (not county) free or reduced-price school lunch or breakfast through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Federal Pell Grant recipient in the current award year
  • Gross annual household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
  • Participates in Tribal specific programs, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal TANF, or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations


Each household can only receive one affordable connectivity benefit. The benefit is portable from one participating provider to another, but cannot be transferred to another individual or household even if they qualify.

Lifeline is a federal benefit that lowers the monthly cost of telephone service and broadband service for low-income households. Eligible consumers can get up to $9.25 off the cost of phone, internet, or bundled services.

Who Qualifies?

Current recipients of Medicaid, Food & Nutrition Services (Food Stamps), Federal Public Housing or Section 8 Assistance (FPHS), Federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Veteran’s Pension or Survivor’s Pension, a Tribal Program, or if the household income is at or below 135% of Federal Poverty Guidelines you may qualify for the program. There can only be one Lifeline Discount per household. Having multiple discounts could result in the loss of one or all discounts.  Lifeline is non-transferable.

  • USAC’s Lifeline Support Center helps you apply for the program, understand eligibility requirements, and keep your benefit current through an annual recertification process.
  • Lifeline consumers must apply for Lifeline and then sign up with a participating phone or internet company, recertify annually, and keep their information up to date.
  • Phone or Internet company enrolls you in the Lifeline program, manages your service, and answers questions about your service, phone or device, or bill.

You cannot give your Lifeline benefit to another person, even if they qualify.

Above plans offered in certain areas and certain requirements may apply, call office for details.  An “Early Termination Fee” will be assessed if the term length of the Service Agreement has not been met. The “Early Termination Fee” will be the remaining balance on a contract. Early Termination does not apply to Month to Month agreements. *Standard Termination Fee – Fee of $199 per service for the connection work made between switching equipment and the customer’s Network Interface Device located outside of the customer’s residence or business. This work can be performed with or without making a premise visit depending on the network configuration.

*ACP is a government program that reduces the households broadband Internet access service bill. Household will be subject to Wilkes Communications’ un-discounted rates and general terms and conditions if the member no longer qualifies or does not recertify with ACP.  Households may obtain broadband service supported by the ACP from any participating provider of their choosing. Households may transfer their ACP benefit to another provider at any time. Household may make changes to their existing service at any time.
