Winter Attacks the BRSR!!!

That's right folks. After many months of waiting the Blue Ridge Summit Railroad has finally gotten our first serious snowfall. On Monday January 17, 2000 and into Tuesday the 18th we got almost seven inches of snow. Chief Operations Officer and President, Bill Koster mandated that No. 10 and 11 must be run today at all cost. He also wanted documentation of the event. Well needless to say yard master Bob Fink and engineer Richard Fink were more than happy to take on the endeavor. With snow shovels in hand we made our way up to Summit Station. It took a couple of days (cause I couldn't get into town to get the film developed), but here is the proof that No.10 and 11 saw their first action in the snow.

Leaving the Summit Shops with our fingers crossed and snow shovel in hand.
Six inches deep....slow going.
Bob taking his turn at the throttle.
Backing up Heimgartner Hill, with all eight axles slipping, wishing we had sanders. This was done in order to check the traction before continuing down to Kay Station. The crew decided to press on.
After surviving Heimgartner Hill No.10 and No.11 plow their way into Kay Station.
