What A Weekend!
9/7/02 & 9/8/02
We at the Blue Ridge Summit Railroad had a very busy weekend. On Saturday we had a group of 10 scouts from Wilkes County visit the railroad in hopes of earning their merit badges. Scott Reedy and Greg Andrews arrived with their Tennessee Phosphate Co. no.3 steam engine. Bill and Jane Farmer brought over their Creston Shortline GP-59 to help us out with giving rides to the scouts. We also had a family from Charleston SC and another one from Granite Falls NC visit the railroad for the first time. We operated from nine in the morning to five in the afternoon having as many as six trains running at one time on the railroad.
On Sunday we had a group of seniors from a local church come to ride the trains. We were surprised when we were done counting heads we ended up with over thirty people to ride the trains. Bill Farmer came back today to help us out with the riders. They were here for a couple of hours. It took a total of nine runs with three trains to give everyone a ride.
